Sian Mair Rowe Heart Dishes on stand Handbuilt, embossed ceramic

The artist:

I enjoy the challenge of working with clay. There are so many things which can go wrong from the clay cracking before it even gets to the kiln to the glaze not working as it should. Clay is not for the faint hearted. It takes skill, patience and perseverance. My head is always full of ideas. While I am working on a piece I am deciding how I will glaze it. I am also starting to think of the next piece I will make. It is usually a progression of the previous thing I’ve made. I love buildings,. I make a lot of buildings but I rarely copy a building. I take the bits which interest me and turn them into my building. I try to make beautiful things. I don’t like ugly especially if it has a deep and meaningful message. I simply try to make things which are pleasing to look at.

  1. Hello I recently purchased a heart ❤️ shape ceramic piece with coloured inserts in Charters towers…on the back was Sian..4. Would this be made by Sian Mair Rowe? If so wondering if she would have another? I gave it to my wonderful long time friend and she loves it and would like to buy one for her granddaughter Siarn! Please let me know, thanks Anne-Maree 😊

    1. Hi Anne-Maree, Yes that would have been by Sian. I’ll ask her for you. Can you email me a photo of the one you bought please? The hearts were from an exhibition called a Heart a Day, and she made 365 hearts, all a bit different, so I want to make sure we know what you are looking for!
